DMW Health and Research Consultancy was founded by a team of Ethiopian health professionals who, over years of conducting clinical research across the country, successfully managed numerous trials, from infectious disease studies to implementation research. Yet they consistently encountered the same systemic realities: prolonged ethics and regulatory reviews, fragmented permit systems, unreliable infrastructure, limited local GCP‑trained staff, and periodic unrest affecting field operations.
That is why we established DMW Health and Research Consultancy, a legally registered private limited company under Ethiopian Commercial Law (Proclamation No. 1243/2013). Built on hard‑won field experience and a track record of success, DMW exists to navigate these challenges so that your trials run smoother, faster, and with greater certainty.

Founder and Senior Consultant
Prof. Wendemagegn Enbiale is a distinguished dermatovenereologist and global health expert with over two decades of clinical, research, and policy leadership. He is a senior NTD consultant and has led large-scale outbreak responses, multinational clinical trials, and health systems strengthening initiatives across Ethiopia and beyond. He provides senior scientific leadership and guides DMW's research agenda, policy engagement, and international partnerships.
Dr Mezgebu Silamsew
MD, Internist and Clinical Trial Expert
Founder and Consultant
Dr. Mezgebu Selamsew is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Gondar and Head of the Clinical Trial Center. He brings over a decade of expertise in infectious disease research, clinical trial leadership, and health systems strengthening across Ethiopia and global partnerships. Dr. Mezgebu leads DMW's clinical operations and quality assurance activities. His deep understanding of patient care and research compliance ensures the highest standards across all studies.
Dr Dereje Bedane
MD, MPH, MSc (Tropical Medicine & Clinical Trial
Founder and General Manager
Dr. Dereje Bedane is a tropical medicine and clinical trial specialist with extensive experience coordinating multinational clinical trials and national epidemiological studies across Ethiopia. He currently serves as Trial Manager at the Armauer Hansen Research Institute. He brings deep expertise in trial operations, project management, and health systems strengthening. He oversees DMW's strategic direction and operational excellence across all engagements.
